Point jewellery quality at Lightning modifiers.
Esh's Catalyst applies quality to a ring or amulet so that qualifying Lightning modifiers receive the benefit. Applying it replaces other jewellery quality types; it does not create a new Lightning modifier.
Count the useful Lightning modifiers first.
Inspect the target's qualifying Lightning modifiers and its existing quality. Use this Catalyst only when improving those modifiers is worth replacing the current quality family.
Other quality types are replaced. Jewellery without strong qualifying Lightning modifiers gains little from this application.
Lightning-focused jewellery creates targeted demand.
The exchange value reflects players optimising rings and amulets with Lightning modifiers. The same Catalyst can be valuable on one item and ineffective on another.
