Lock one random rare modifier in place.
A Fracturing Orb fractures a random modifier on a rare item with at least four modifiers. The fractured modifier becomes locked in place and the orb cannot be used on an already Fractured item.
Count every eligible modifier, not only the desired one.
Use it when the target modifier is valuable enough and the chance of hitting another eligible modifier is acceptable. Prepare the rare item's modifier set before taking the irreversible roll.
Selection is random, the outcome is locked, and the item needs at least four modifiers. Already Fractured items are ineligible, and hitting the wrong modifier can damage the plan.
Permanent modifier protection commands a premium.
Demand follows high-value crafting projects that benefit from locking one modifier. The orb's price does not improve the random selection chance or reimburse an undesirable fracture.
