A Path of Exile 2 Vaal Orb modifies an item unpredictably and corrupts it. Once corrupted, the source directions say the item cannot be modified again. That makes the orb a commitment rather than another routine step in an incremental crafting sequence.
Use it only after the item is ready to become final.
Complete every ordinary change you consider necessary before taking the corruption gamble. The imported PoE2 record begins at drop level 35 and stacks to 20. Neither fact reduces the consequence: the resulting item leaves the normal modification path whether the unpredictable change helps or hurts.
The result is unpredictable and the corruption is permanent under the source directions. Do not apply the orb expecting to repair the result afterward through ordinary crafting, and do not use it before planned modifications are complete.
The item at risk matters more than the orb alone.
A current currency price describes only one part of the decision. The item being corrupted, the work already invested in it, and the loss of future modification options all belong in the practical cost. Market information should never frame the gamble as guaranteed value creation.
