Orb of Fusing
Understand how an Orb of Fusing rerolls links between Path of Exile 1 equipment sockets and why socket count, colours, and links are separate problems.
What happens if you use it?
The links between existing equipment sockets are reforged.
Socket count, colours, item base, and modifiers remain.
The item has the right sockets but needs a different linked group.
A usable link can become worse and repeated attempts may be expensive.
Reforges the links between sockets on an item
Right click this item then left click a socketed item to apply it. The item's quality increases the chances of obtaining more links.

Reroll which equipment sockets are linked.
An Orb of Fusing reforges the links between sockets on a socketed item. It does not reroll the number or colours of those sockets. The source directions note that item quality improves the chance of obtaining more links.
Prepare socket count and quality before chasing links.
Confirm that the equipment has enough sockets for the intended gem group, consider quality before repeated attempts, and stop at the link structure the build requires rather than treating every item as a maximum-link project.
A new roll can destroy a usable link arrangement. The result is random, quality improves odds rather than guaranteeing success, and PoE2 Skill Gem support capacity is a different system.
The desired link count determines the real cost.
Exchange value covers each attempt, while the crafting cost depends on a random sequence. Demand rises when players link important equipment, but no current ratio promises how many Fusings one item will take.
