Sockets, Links, and Augments
The word socket hides different systems. PoE1 equipment carries coloured and linked gem sockets. PoE2 Skill Gems gain Support Gem capacity, while equipment can also carry Augment Sockets for permanent additions.
The original game
Jeweller's Orbs set equipment socket count, Chromatic Orbs change colours, and Orbs of Fusing reroll links. Solving one does not solve the others.
The newer campaign
Tiered Jeweller currencies expand Skill Gem support capacity. Artificer's Orbs and Soul Cores belong to the separate equipment Augment Socket system.
Add an Augment Socket to eligible equipment.
