Jeweller's Orb
Understand how a Jeweller's Orb reforges the number of sockets on Path of Exile 1 equipment and why socket count is separate from colours and links.
What happens if you use it?
The equipment item's socket count is reforged.
Its modifiers, base identity, colours, and link state remain separate.
The equipment needs a different socket capacity for the planned gem setup.
A usable count can be replaced by a worse random count, requiring more attempts.

Reroll how many sockets the equipment item has.
A Path of Exile 1 Jeweller's Orb reforges the number of sockets on a socketed item. It does not choose the socket colours or create the links needed for gems to work together; those are separate parts of the equipment socket system.
Set the required capacity before solving colours and links.
Start from the planned gem group and the equipment slot's socket limit. The source directions say item quality increases the chance of obtaining more sockets, so evaluate the target and its quality before repeated attempts. Stop when the required count is reached rather than treating the maximum as automatically necessary.
The result is random and can reduce a usable socket count. The orb does not link or recolour sockets. PoE2 uses tiered Jeweller currencies on Skill Gems, so those guides are related learning rather than direct item equivalents.
The number of attempts matters more than one orb.
Exchange value prices each attempt, while the practical expense depends on the random sequence needed to reach the target count. Current league supply and demand belong beside the item's socket limit and quality.
