Lesser Jeweller's Orb
Understand how a Lesser Jeweller's Orb sets a Path of Exile 2 Skill Gem to three Support Gem sockets and when that first capacity upgrade is useful.
What happens if you use it?
A Skill Gem is set to three Support Gem sockets.
The Skill Gem identity and existing skill remain.
The gem has fewer than three sockets and three useful supports are planned.
Extra capacity may go unused, and colour requirements are a separate problem.

Set a Skill Gem to three support sockets.
A Lesser Jeweller's Orb sets a Skill Gem to have three Support Gem sockets. The source directions restrict it to Skill Gems with fewer than three, so it is a capacity step rather than a random equipment-socket reroll.
Have three useful supports in mind before expanding.
Choose the main Skill Gem and identify the first three supports that genuinely help its role. The imported record begins at drop level 25 and stacks to 20. Chromatic Orb solves colour requirements separately after capacity exists.
It cannot be applied when the Skill Gem already has three or more support sockets. It does not choose support colours or insert Support Gems, and it is not the PoE1 equipment-socket currency.
Capacity has value only when the build can use it.
Current exchange activity prices access to the three-support stage, but does not measure whether a particular skill has three appropriate supports available. Compare the currency cost with the actual setup plan.
